The scene was filmed Ham House was constructed in 1610 for Sir Thomas Vavasour by architect Robery Smythson. The house and surrounding gardens have changed very little since its construction making it one of the only unchanged examples of Stuart architecture and landscaping.

The scene was filmed Hampton Court Palace began construction in 1515 for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, but 14 years later he fell from favour and the palace was given to King Henry VIII and has remained in royal control since then. The palace consists of a number of long halls surrounding several courtyards. Extensive gardens surround the palace up to the River Thames and include several fountains and a hedge maze.
