The majority of the film was shot at a studio in Prague, as well as in medieval Gothic castles and the Invalides complex. Some exterior views of the castle were filmed in scenic locations in Romania and small towns in Germany.

Finally, it moves into a spectacular close-up, revealing the castle in all its grandiose beauty and making the viewer feel its monumentality and mystery.

The scene was filmed Exterior shots of the castle were filmed in Romania, in Hunedoara, Transylvania, at Corvin Castle. This impressive Gothic-Renaissance style castle was built in the 15th century. Corvin Castle is rightly considered one of the Seven Wonders of Romania.

Sinister Manor

Scene where The scene unfolds deep in the night: Ellen, dressed in a snow-white nightie, walks slowly through a huge green garden to an abandoned stately manor house. All around her are winding green mazes, their shadows swaying mysteriously in the moonlight. A massive black gate rises before the entrance to the manor, creating an ominous and mesmerizing atmosphere.
