Amsterdam has become the first capital city to restrict meat advertising in public spaces. Thus, the authorities aim to halve residents' meat consumption by 2050.
Advertising of "high-carbon" products is also banned: air travel, gasoline cars. Currently, the share of advertising for products and services related to hydrocarbon raw materials is 4% of all advertising in the city.
Since 2022, similar bans have been introduced in other cities in the Netherlands.
