
👌 Microsoft moves to phase out passwords as default sign-in method
On May 7, World Passkey Day, the company announced expanded capabilities for passwordless authentication.
All of this is part of a strategy where outdated passwords are seen not as an additional login option, but as a vulnerability that needs to be eliminated.
Microsoft announced that Entra passkeys for Windows—via Windows Hello—will become generally available in late May 2026.
Also, starting January 2027, security questions will be removed from password reset options in Microsoft Entra ID due to their vulnerability to social engineering.
