⚡️ Mobile Qubits: A New Scaling for Quantum Computing
Delft University of Technology: for the first time, two-qubit logic gates have been executed on mobile electron spins on a silicon chip.
What did the scientists do?
They made two electrons move towards each other, perform the required operation (gate) with 99% accuracy, and then move apart. All of this — inside an ordinary silicon chip, like in modern computers.
Why is this cool?
• No complex wiring between qubits is needed.
• Many qubits on a single chip, like conventional processors.
• Materials are the same as in ordinary microchips (silicon-germanium).
📌 In simple terms: previously qubits were stationary, but now they can travel to each other for a "visit".
