A recently discovered vulnerability in the DNS client for Microsoft Windows could allow attackers to silently execute malicious code.

By simply sending a malicious response to a normal network request, cybercriminals can take control of vulnerable endpoints without requiring user interaction or prior authentication.
Microsoft responded to this threat two days ago, as part of the Patch Tuesday updates on May 12, 2026, for Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, and Windows Server 2025.
