The filming of the Soviet two-part detective series took place in Leningrad, Leningrad Oblast, and Yalta. Employees of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Leningrad and Leningrad Oblast, as well as the Internal Affairs Directorate of Yalta, participated in the creation of the film. Interestingly, the filming took place three years after the opening of Pulkovo Airport, and the interior of this airport in the film was decorated with many plants. In the 1970s, the tradition of winter gardens in public places flourished in Leningrad. «The Golden Mine» became one of the standout detective films of its time and entered the golden collection of Soviet cinema.

The scene was filmed On the barquentine "Sirius," built in 1948 in Finland for the USSR as reparations. Since 1971, after being decommissioned, it stood on the Mytninskaya Embankment and functioned as the restaurant "Kronverk," and in 1993 it was dismantled.
