The scene was filmed in Shelburne Falls - a small town known for its Bridge of Flowers, a former trolley bridge over the Deerfield River, now maintained by the Shelburne Falls Women's Club as a floral display from April to October. This bridge was built because the Iron Bridge had a weight limit of twenty tons. The Iron Bridge - a truss bridge built in 1890 - is still open to vehicles. In 1988, the village center was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Shelburne Falls Historic District.
