The scene was filmed at Somerset House, a large neoclassical building designed by Sir William Chambers and built in 1776 on the Strand along the Thames. For over two centuries, the building housed various learned societies and government offices, including the Royal Academy, the Geological Society, the Navy Board, and the Stamp and Tax Office. In the mid-1980s, the building was converted into a center for visual arts.
