The scene was filmed at The John Ferraro Building was built in 1965 to consolidate operations of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. This 17-story building was designed by A.C. Martin & Associates in a corporate international style. The pond surrounding the building is part of the building's air conditioning and heating systems, reducing electricity consumption in summer and allowing the building to be heated without a boiler in winter. The concrete slabs extending beyond the windows act as shades, also helping to keep the building cool.

The scene was filmed at The tunnel, running 4.5 blocks under downtown Los Angeles from Figueroa to Hill, opened in 1924 to relieve traffic on the neighboring 3rd Street tunnel. The tunnel is lined with characteristic glossy white tiles that cast distorted reflections, giving the tunnel a very interesting visual appearance, which has led to its popularity in film and television.

The scene was filmed at Griffith Observatory was built in 1935 on land donated by Griffith J. Griffith specifically for the creation of an observatory and museum for the public. The building was designed by architect John C. Austin in the Greek and Beaux-Arts styles and contains only the third planetarium opened in the country. The observatory's iconic status and magnificent view of the city have made it a very popular filming location.
