The scene was filmed The southern shore of Manhattan was known as the Battery as early as the 17th century, when cannons were placed here to defend Manhattan from attacks by sea. The remaining western battery, known as Castle Clinton and built shortly before the War of 1812, was originally erected on a small island off the coast, but over time the land expanded and surrounded the fort in 1855. The modern park now occupies 25 acres and includes a small park, a restaurant, a carousel, and a World War II memorial.

The scene was filmed Although commonly known as Grand Central Station, the building has borne its current name since its construction in 1903, replacing an older Grand Central Depot. The station has 44 platforms, more than any other station in the world, all underground and divided into two levels. The most famous part of the station is the cavernous Main Concourse, topped by an intricate astronomical ceiling mural created by architect Whitney Warren and artist Paul César Helleu.

The scene was filmed The Mall, running from the flower bed on Center Drive in the south to Bethesda Terrace in the north, is the only straight path in the entire park. The path passes a row of statues of famous writers, known as Literary Walk, and past the Naumburg Bandshell. The path and its surrounding American elms were built in 1857 and designed as part of the large park by landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux.
