The scene was filmed at a castle called Prague Castle, located in Prague. The inner courtyard looks somewhat like the Kremlin, but it stands out, especially in the shot where the red ball flies past the dome of the tower—it doesn't look like the Kremlin at all. The filmmakers only shot wide shots of the Kremlin in Moscow, as they did not receive subsidies and tax breaks for filming, so the main scenes were shot in Prague and on a studio set.
