The scene was filmed at The famous Santa Anita Park opened in 1934 after the legalization of horse betting a year earlier. The grandstands and other buildings on the park grounds were designed by architect Gordon Kaufmann in the Streamline Modern style. The track hosts the Santa Anita Derby and Santa Anita Handicap, as well as other prestigious races.
