The scene was filmed at The Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library, built in 1995, occupies an entire city block downtown and was designed by Moshe Safdie of DA Architects. A large central atrium is surrounded by the library on one side and several floors of reading rooms on the other. A 21-story office tower and retail spaces adjoin the main building.

The scene was filmed at The East Lawn Building, opened in 1930, which housed the chronic women's ward, is the largest building in Riverview. The building was designed to accommodate 675 patients, but by the 1950s it housed over 1,400 people. The building was closed in 2005 and has since been used for film shoots.

Oceanic Plaza

The scene was filmed at Oceanic Plaza - the name refers to both the skyscraper and the adjacent plaza - is a glass office building built in 1975. Although the building is sometimes used for filming, most often filming takes place on the plaza or on the former pedestrian bridge that went across Hastings Street to the Guinness Tower.
