The scene was filmed at Victory Square, which originally housed the old provincial courthouse building, is named not after any specific victory but in memory of the Canadian armed forces. The square features a 9-meter-high cenotaph in memory of the armed forces, built in 1924.

The scene was filmed at The central branch of the Vancouver Public Library, built in 1995, occupies an entire city block downtown and was designed by Moshe Safdie of DA Architects. A large central atrium is surrounded by the library on one side and several floors of reading rooms on the other. Adjoining the main building is a 21-story office tower and retail spaces.

The scene was filmed at Plaza of Nations is an entertainment and events complex built for Expo '86. The original covered plaza was large enough to hold 4,500 people for performances and hosted many famous artists before it was demolished in 2007 for safety reasons. Currently, only two original structures remain: the main glass building now housing the Edgewater Casino and the office building at 750 Pacific Boulevard.
