The scene was filmed at The James Oviatt Building is a historic Art Deco high-rise built in 1928 for successful haberdasher James Oviatt. The building's grand entrance features a 12-ton illuminated glass canopy and an arcaded ceiling designed by Ferdinand Chanut and Gaetan Jeannin. The impressive Art Deco lobby and mezzanine were converted into the Cicada restaurant and dance club.

Charles Lee and Samuel Tilden Norton in the French Baroque style with a grand central staircase in the lobby surrounded by lavish decorations. The theatre opened with the premiere of Charlie Chaplin's film "City Lights" in January 1931. The theatre closed to the public in 1994 but is still used for special events and filming.
