The concentrator operated for seventy years starting in 1904, and Mill No. 3 was built in 1923. In reality, no mining took place in these tunnels, as they were used to transport ore to Howe Sound.

The scene was filmed at Fantasy Garden World began its life as a small amusement park in the early 1970s. In 1984, the park was bought by British Columbia Premier Bill Vander Zalm, who gave the park a Christian theme and used it as his personal home. Allegations that the park was a conflict of interest led to Zalm's resignation in 1991 and the sale of the park shortly after. The front of the park featured a small medieval-style village, in front of which was a miniature replica of Koevorden Castle in the Netherlands, the ancestral home of Captain George Vancouver. The back of the park contained the Biblical Gardens, filled with many religious icons. In 2010, the village was demolished to make way for a condominium development, leaving only the Dutch castle and part of the gardens on the site.
