The scene was filmed at The Chan Centre is a magnificent concert venue located on the campus of the University of British Columbia. The main concert hall, Chan Shun Concert Hall, features a distinctive floating canopy and beautiful teak wood walls. The smaller Telus Studio Theatre has three-tiered seating that can be moved into various configurations. The building also houses a small cinema, the Royal Bank Cinema, a beautiful soaring foyer, and various versatile backstage spaces.

The scene was filmed at The Rogers Sugar Refinery was built on the Vancouver waterfront in 1890 to take advantage of cheap sugar cane arriving at the Port of Vancouver. The mill still operates and produces about 10% of Canada's sugar.

The scene was filmed at The Carter Cotton Building was originally built in 1908 to house the Carter Cotton newspaper "Daily News Advertiser." The building was sold just two years later and connected to the neighboring Edgett Building via a skybridge to house the offices of The Province newspaper. Over the years, the building changed hands several times, but eventually became one of the downtown campuses of the Vancouver Film School.
