The scene was filmed at the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library, built in 1995, occupies an entire city block in downtown and was designed by Moshe Safdie of DA Architects. A large central atrium is surrounded by the library on one side and several floors of reading rooms on the other. A 21-story office tower and retail spaces adjoin the main building.

The scene was filmed at the Chan Centre is a magnificent concert venue located on the campus of the University of British Columbia. The main concert hall, Chan Shun Concert Hall, features a distinctive floating canopy and beautiful teak wood walls. The smaller Telus Studio Theatre has three-tiered seating that can be moved into various configurations. The building also houses a small cinema, the Royal Bank Cinema, a beautiful soaring foyer, and various versatile backstage spaces.
