The scene was filmed at Fantasy Gardens began its life as a small amusement park in the early 1970s. In 1984, the park was purchased by British Columbia Premier Bill Vander Zalm, who gave the park a Christian theme and used it as his personal home. Allegations that the park was a conflict of interest led to Zalm's resignation in 1991 and the sale of the park shortly thereafter. The front of the park featured a small medieval-style village, in front of which stood a miniature Kasteel Coevorden in the Netherlands, the ancestral home of Captain George Vancouver. The back of the park contained the Biblical Gardens, filled with many religious icons. In 2010, the village was demolished to make way for a condominium development, leaving only the Dutch castle and part of the gardens on the site.

The scene was filmed at Plaza of Nations is an entertainment and event complex built for Expo '86. The original indoor plaza was large enough to seat 4,500 people for performances and hosted many famous artists before being demolished in 2007 for safety reasons. Currently, only two of the original structures remain: the main glass building, which now houses the Edgewater Casino, and the office building at 750 Pacific Boulevard.

The scene was filmed at Opened as a vaudeville theatre in 1927 and converted into a movie theatre in the early 1930s. In 1974, it was acquired by the City of Vancouver and converted into a live performance venue. In 1979, the building was added to the Vancouver Heritage Register.
