The scene was filmed at The Chan Centre is a magnificent concert venue located on the campus of the University of British Columbia. The main concert hall, Chan Shun Concert Hall, features a distinctive floating canopy and beautiful teak wood walls. The smaller Telus Studio Theatre has three-tiered seating that can be moved into various configurations. The building also houses a small cinema, the Royal Bank Cinema, a beautiful floating foyer, and various versatile backstage spaces.

The scene was filmed at Plaza of Nations is an entertainment and event complex built for Expo '86. The original covered plaza was large enough to hold 4,500 people for performances and hosted many famous artists before it was demolished in 2007 for safety reasons. Currently, only two of the original structures remain: the main glass building, which now houses the Edgewater Casino, and an office building at 750 Pacific Boulevard.
