The scene was filmed on RMS Queen Mary - a British ocean liner that first set sail in 1936 as the flagship of the Cunard-White Star Line. The ship operated on the Southampton-New York route and held the speed record on this route until 1952. In 1967, the Queen Mary was decommissioned due to the development of jet transport, and it was moved to Long Beach, where it has been permanently docked ever since. Currently, the ship houses a hotel, several restaurants, and a museum, and it is listed as a historic site.
