The scene was filmed at the Isle of Palms Pier in South Carolina. The pier was built in 1953 as part of the tourist infrastructure that dominates Palm Island. Here you can enjoy fishing and surfing, which is what Channing Tatum's character does in the scene.

Savannah's Parents' House

The scene was filmed at the Cassina Point Plantation in South Carolina. The house was built in 1847 and is a characteristic antebellum structure with a porch, columns, basement, and moldings. It is surrounded by a cotton plantation. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The scene where John and Savannah go to a restaurant for their first date. The owner warns John that he doesn't want any trouble. Savannah asks what that's about, but John remains silent. Over the meal, they talk and try to get to know each other better.

The scene was filmed at Bowen's Island restaurant in Charleston, USA. This establishment serves Lowcountry cuisine, a traditional cuisine associated with South Carolina. The restaurant opened in 1946, and in 2006 the Culinary Institute of America named it an America's Classic. It's no wonder Savannah mentions wanting to eat at a good place in the scene.
