The scene was filmed at Walt Disney Concert Hall, one of five halls in the Los Angeles Music Center, the others being Mark Taper Forum, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, and Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theatre. The building was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, and the acoustics were developed by Minoru Nagata and Yasuhisa Toyota. Although initial funds were donated in 1987 and construction began in 1992, due to various fundraising issues the hall itself was only completed in 2003 at a cost of $274 million. Externally, the hall consists of a series of broad, organic walls of polished stainless steel.
