The scene was filmed at Originally built as Regent Circus South in 1819, Piccadilly Circus acquired its current name in the 1880s. Starting in 1908 with a Perrier sign, the junction was surrounded by distinctive illuminated signs, giving it a characteristic Times Square feel, although now this has been reduced to a single building on the northwest corner of the circle. The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, originally located in the center of the circle but moved as roads changed, was built in 1892 in memory of the Victorian politician Lord Shaftesbury.
