The scene was filmed at After the success of the nearby Egyptian Theatre, showman Sid Grauman built the Chinese Theatre in 1927, designed by architects Meyer and Holler. This grand movie palace cost more than twice as much as his previous building and is known for its splendor both inside and out. It was at this theatre that the famous celebrity handprints originated, starting with Norma Talmadge before construction was even complete, and now numbering over 200 concrete blocks in the forecourt. Grauman hired specialist Jean Klossner to develop an extremely hard concrete specifically for preserving the handprints.
