The scene was filmed Originally, the Metropolitan was built in 1872 in the High Victorian Gothic style designed by architects Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould. The design of the original building was considered an eyesore, so by 1902 a new Beaux-Arts facade was built, along with a number of other improvements. In the following decade, two more wings were built along Fifth Avenue, and over the next century the museum expanded in a hodgepodge of different styles, and now its area is 20 times larger than the original building - more than two million square feet. The Metropolitan is the largest art museum in the United States, with a permanent collection of more than two million works. Part of the collection is housed in The Cloisters, a small museum dedicated to medieval art and architecture in Fort Tryon Park.

The scene was filmed The Mall, running from the flower bed at Center Drive in the south to Bethesda Terrace in the north, is the only straight path in the entire park. The path passes a series of statues of famous writers, known as Literary Walk, and past the Naumburg Bandshell. The path and its surrounding American elms were built in 1857 and designed as part of the large park by landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux.
