The scene was filmed Although commonly known as Grand Central Station, the building has borne its current name since its construction in 1903, replacing the older Grand Central Depot. The station has 44 platforms, more than any other station in the world, all underground and divided into two levels. The most famous part of the station is the cavernous Main Concourse, crowned by an intricate astronomical mural created by architect Whitney Warren and artist Paul César Helleu.

Although originally built as a naturalistic pond filled with water lilies, it was later remodeled with sharper edges to support a fleet of model boats.
