The scene was filmed at Built in 1922 by showman Sid Grauman, who also is responsible for the Million Dollar Theatre and the more famous Chinese Theatre, and designed by Meyer & Holler in the Egyptian Revival style. Over the years, the theatre fell into disrepair until it was purchased by the American Cinematheque in 1998 and underwent a major restoration. While the theatre's exterior was returned to its original state, the interior was significantly remodeled, splitting the original 1,760-seat theatre into two smaller auditoriums. In 1922, the Egyptian Theatre hosted the first Hollywood premiere ever, for the film "Robin Hood".
