David Dunlap Observatory

The scene was filmed at The David Dunlap Observatory was built by the University of Toronto in 1935 and operated by it until 2008, when it was sold to the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and then resold in 2018 to the city of Richmond Hill for historical preservation. The main observatory houses a 74-inch telescope, the second largest in North America at the time of its installation. On top of the adjacent administration building are three additional domes that have housed various telescopes over the years. Light pollution from growing development around the site and the relatively small size of the telescope eventually reduced its scientific usefulness.

The scene was filmed at A Gothic Revival mansion built in 1914 for Sir Henry Mill Pellatt for the tidy sum of $3.5 million. After several changes of ownership, in 1933 the mansion became the property of the city, and was soon leased to the Kiwanis Club for 74 years. The mansion is currently open for tours.

The scene was filmed at Knox College was founded in 1844 as a graduate theological college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Canada. It moved into its current neo-Gothic building in 1915.

Royal Ontario Museum

The scene was filmed at The current Royal Ontario Museum is a combination of several structures built in the 20th century. The original building is an Italo-Romanesque and Neo-Romanesque style structure designed by architects Frank Darling and John A. Pearson in 1914. It was expanded in 1933, and an Art Deco rotunda was built in the east wing designed by Alfred H. Chapman and James Oxley. The Curatorial Centre was added in 1984 designed by Gene Kinoshita in a modern style. The latest expansion is the deconstructivist "Crystal", designed by Daniel Libeskind, which opened in 2007 and includes a new lobby and a three-story atrium.

The scene was filmed at The first new building constructed on campus after its founding in 1963, the Science Wing (originally named Andrews Building) was designed by John Andrews in the Brutalist style and completed in 1964. The building, along with the adjacent Humanities Wing, was built with long open corridors in the center with balconies overlooking them, designed as urban streets.

The scene was filmed at The east wing of the Andrews Building was built in 1964 by architect John Andrews as the first new building for the newly founded Scarborough College. The Brutalist building is designed with a long corridor running through the center surrounded by balconies that resemble a city street.

The scene was filmed at St. Michael's College Quad was built on the grounds of the Clover Hill estate and is surrounded by Teefy Hall built in 1936, Carr Hall built in 1954, and the Maritime and McCorkell houses built in the old Victorian estate. In the center of the square is an abstract stainless steel sculpture "Michael" depicting the namesake saint, created by artist Anna Allardice to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the college's founding in 1978.

The house was bequeathed to the museum after the owner's death in 1911 and was significantly expanded over the century by more than half a dozen different additions. The latest expansion was led by architect Frank Gehry and included a new glass entrance on the north side of the building and a titanium and glass structure over Walker Court with its distinctive protruding staircase.
