The scene was filmed at Liberty Grand was built in 1926 to house exhibition space for the Ontario government during the annual Canadian National Exhibition. The building was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by the firm Chapman and Oxley with a fancy exterior but a fairly simple interior. In 1971, the new Ontario Place building took over the space that this building occupied, and it remained vacant until 2001, when it was leased by Liberty Entertainment Group, which renovated the building for event hosting.

The scene was filmed at The school on Place Street opened in 1859, designed by architect Joseph Sheard, with about 180 students. After the school closed in 1887, the building was sold and turned into a hotel, called variously Irvine House, Cherry Street Hotel, and Eastern Star Hotel. After those hotels failed, the building sat vacant in 1910-22, when it was converted for industrial use. The Canary Restaurant began operating on the ground floor of the building in 1965 and kept its 60s decor until its closure in 2007 due to decreased traffic from area development.

The scene was filmed at Toronto Union Station is the largest railway station in Canada and the third station to bear that name. Construction began in 1914 east of the old station, but although the building was completed in 1920, trains did not run through it until 1927 due to a dispute over tracks. In 1975, the building was designated a National Historic Site of Canada, and in 1999 it was inducted into the Railway Hall of Fame. Currently, the station serves Via Rail, Amtrak, and GO Transit trains, as well as the dedicated Union Pearson Express to the airport and subway trains running through the station under Front Street.
