The scene was filmed at Barclay Hotel - a 14-story luxury hotel built in 1926 for the Vanderbilt family by the New York Central Railroad on land recently vacated after the Grand Central Terminal tracks were moved underground. In 1978, the hotel was sold to Loews Hotels after the previous owners went bankrupt and underwent a major renovation. On the ground floor of the hotel is the flagship store of perfumer Caswell-Massey, which has occupied this space since the hotel opened.

The Battery

Scene where Jane convinces Weller to let her go with her, after which the group boards a ship heading to Liberty Island in the pilot episode.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at The southern shore of Manhattan was known as the Battery as early as the 17th century, when cannons were placed here to protect Manhattan from attacks from the sea. The remaining western battery, known as Castle Clinton and built shortly before the War of 1812, was originally erected on a small island off the coast, but over time the land expanded and surrounded the fort in 1855. The modern park now covers 25 acres and includes a small park, restaurant, carousel, and World War II memorial.

Times Square (south of 45th Street)

In Reality

The scene was filmed at Times Square is an incredibly popular tourist destination in the heart of the Broadway theater district in Manhattan. The southern half of the square has no official name and contains a U.S. Army recruiting station and a New York City tourist information kiosk. The north side of Times Square continues to 45th Street.

Ohla Barcelona Hotel

The scene was filmed at The Brooklyn Bridge, which opened in 1883 as the New York and Brooklyn Bridge after fourteen years of construction. The bridge was the world's first steel-wire suspension bridge and was designed by John Augustus Roebling.

Building 269 (Brooklyn Navy Yard)

The scene was filmed at One of the original U.S. Navy buildings, built when the Navy Yard was a military base, Building 269 was used for many years as the headquarters of Agger Fish Corp, and today it houses the barrel-aging facility for the Brooklyn Brewery.

Calvary Cemetery

The scene was filmed at Calvary Cemetery, with over 3 million burials, is the largest cemetery in the United States. The cemetery was created by the Old St. Patrick's Cathedral in 1847 when their original cemetery on Mulberry Street became full. By 1867, the original western section of the cemetery was completely filled, and eventually three new sections were added.

Metropolitan Hospital

In Reality

The scene was filmed at Originally the New York City Lunatic Asylum, Metropolitan Hospital moved to its current location in 1955 from its previous site on Roosevelt Island. In 1966, a 14-story psychiatric hospital building was added to the complex, housing psychiatric patients.

Unisphere (Flushing Meadows Corona Park)

In Reality

The scene was filmed at Built for the 1964 New York World's Fair, the Unisphere is a 120-foot stainless steel globe, the largest in the world, designed by landscape architect Gilmore D. Clarke to fit into his larger park plan. The globe is surrounded by three orbital rings representing the orbits of Yuri Gagarin, John Glenn, and the Telstar satellite. This globe replaced the older Perisphere, which was built on the same site for the 1939 World's Fair but was scrapped after the event.

Thomas Paine Park / Foley Square

The scene was filmed at Thomas Paine Park and the adjacent Foley Square are located in the heart of Manhattan's Civic Center, opposite the Supreme Court and several other court and federal buildings. The park was named after founding father Thomas Paine, and the square after local civic leader and saloon owner "Big Tom" Foley. The site has been common land since the Collect Pond, which previously occupied the site, was filled in 1811, and in 2005 the park and square were officially combined.

National Palace

In Reality

The scene was filmed at The National Palace was built for the 1929 International Exhibition, and currently houses the National Art Museum of Catalonia (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya). The building was designed by architects Eugenio Cendoya and Enric Catà in the Spanish Renaissance style. Between 1990 and 2004, a major renovation and expansion of the building added another 15,300 square meters to accommodate the museum's extensive collection.
