The scene was filmed at Bryant Park, located in Midtown Manhattan, home to the New York Public Library. Originally opened in 1847 as Reservoir Square, it was renamed Bryant Park in 1884. Over the years, the park fell into disrepair until a renovation in the 1980s, when the entire park was rebuilt atop newly constructed underground library stacks.
