The scene was filmed at St Pancras Station, built by the Midland Railway in 1868 as the terminus of its main line into London. It was designed by William Henry Barlow with a single-span iron roof, the largest of its time at 245 feet. In the early 2000s, the platforms were extended with a new train shed to accommodate longer Eurostar trains arriving through the Channel Tunnel. Immediately after the station's completion, construction began on the hotel at the front, designed by architect George Gilbert Scott in an Italian Gothic style using polychrome brick. The hotel operated until 1935, when it was converted into offices, but in 2011 it was renovated and reopened as a hotel.
