The scene was filmed at The oldest surviving commercial building in downtown was built in 1893 for gold mining millionaire Lewis L. Bradbury by George Wyman & Sumner Hunt. Behind the building's soft Romanesque exterior lies an ornate Victorian courtyard with a massive skylight, wrought iron railings, marble stairs, and cage elevators. Having fallen into disrepair over the years, the building was extensively renovated in 1991, and in 1996 it housed the Los Angeles Police Department's Internal Affairs division, as well as several other government agencies.

The scene was filmed at Built in the 1930s to consolidate several different railway services, this grand terminal was erected on the ruins of the city's original Chinatown at a cost of $11 million. The station was designed primarily by John and Donald Parkinson in a mix of various styles. Across the tracks, connected by an underground tunnel, is the Patsaouras Transit Plaza, designed by Ehrenkrantz & Eckstut, which serves several bus lines and also houses metro offices.
