The scene was filmed at St Pancras Station was built by the Midland Railway in 1868 as the terminus of a single line into London. It was designed by William Henry Barlow with a single-span iron roof, the largest roof of its time at 245 feet. In the early 2000s, the platforms were extended with a new train shed to allow the station to accommodate longer Eurostar trains arriving through the tunnel. Immediately after the station's completion, construction began on a hotel at the front of the station, designed by architect George Gilbert Scott in an Italian Gothic style using polychrome brick. The hotel operated until 1935, when it was converted into offices, but in 2011 it was renovated and turned back into a hotel.

The scene was filmed at West Wycombe Park was built for Sir Francis Dashwood between 1740 and 1800 and is a unique combination of Palladian, Neoclassical, and Greek Revival styles. Different architects designed various parts of the house, including Nicholas Revett for the west portico and Roger Morris, who designed the east part of the house. The house is set in a garden designed by Nicholas Revett, which contains several small "temples" based on Greek and Roman architecture, as well as a Gothic chapel built later.
