The scene was filmed at a park of about 1000 acres located north of Los Angeles, with characteristic uplifted rock formations. Its unique appearance and location within the thirty-mile zone have made the rocks an extremely popular filming location since they first appeared in the film "Werewolf of London" in 1935.
