The scene was filmed at The house in Luton Hoo estate was designed in neoclassical style by architect Robert Adam and built for John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute, starting in 1767. The exterior was updated by architect Robert Smirke in 1830 to its current appearance. The house was destroyed by fire in 1843, and during subsequent reconstruction the interior was modernized to match Smirke's exterior. In 1903, new owner Sir Julius Werner remodeled the interior again in Belle Époque style. Currently, the house houses a luxury 228-room hotel, and the surrounding grounds still belong to the Werner family.
