The scene was filmed at Union Station in Toronto - the largest railway station in Canada and the third station to bear this name. Construction of the station began in 1914 east of the old station, but although the building was completed in 1920, trains only began running through it in 1927 due to a dispute over the tracks. In 1975, the building was designated a National Historic Site of Canada, and in 1999 it was inducted into the Railway Hall of Fame. Currently, the station serves Via Rail, Amtrak, and GO Transit trains, as well as the dedicated Union Pearson Express to the airport and subway trains passing through the station under Front Street.
