The scene was filmed at The Vancouver Zoo dates back to 1888, when the first Stanley Park keeper kept a black bear cub chained to a stump. Over the years, the zoo grew as more animals were donated, until residents voted to close it in 1996. The last remaining structure is the polar bear grotto, built in 1962 to house Tuk, who was the zoo's last resident after its closure until his death in 1997.
