The scene was filmed at Drury Lane was designed by Benjamin Dean Wyatt and opened with a production of "Hamlet" in 1812. It was built after the old theatre was destroyed by fire, and it is the fourth theatre to stand on this site. Originally, the theatre could seat over 3,000 spectators (compared to 3,600 in the previous building), but after a major renovation in 1922, its capacity was reduced to 2,000.
