Over the years, the zoo grew as more animals were donated, until residents voted to close it in 1996. The last remaining structure is the polar bear grotto, built in 1962 to house Tuk, who was the zoo's last resident after its closure until his death in 1997.

The scene was filmed at This building opened in 1934 as a treatment center for World War I veterans. It included a main building and a separate dining block for veterans. The main building was expanded in 1945 and reopened in 1949 as the Crease Clinic of Psychological Medicine, a short-term psychological treatment center. The building is now used almost exclusively for film shoots.

After the office closed, it became very popular with film crews, and some even used it as a soundstage.
