The scene was filmed at The large traffic circle located at the southwest corner of Central Park was designed in 1857 as part of the original park plan and was then called Grand Circle. In the center of the circle is a column erected in 1892 featuring a statue of Christopher Columbus, which eventually led to the circle's current name. For many official purposes, Columbus Circle is considered the center of the city. All highway distance signs to New York are measured from the circle, as is the 25-mile radius for C-2 visas and the studio zone that determines compensation for film crews.
