The scene was filmed at the John Ferraro Building, built in 1965 to consolidate operations of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. This 17-story building was designed by A.C. Martin & Associates in the corporate international style. The pond surrounding the building is part of the building's heating and cooling systems, reducing electricity consumption in summer and allowing the building to be heated without a boiler in winter. Concrete slabs extending beyond the windows act as shades, also helping to keep the building cool.
