The scene was filmed Originally, Piccadilly Circus was built as Regent Circus South in 1819 and received its current name in the 1880s. Starting in 1908 with the Perrier sign, the intersection was surrounded by characteristic illuminated signs, giving it a distinctive Times Square feel, although currently all of this has been reduced to a single building on the northwest corner of the circus. The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, originally located in the center of the circus but moved as roads changed, was built in 1892 in memory of the Victorian-era politician Lord Shaftesbury.

The scene was filmed Westminster Bridge was designed by Thomas Page and opened in 1862 to replace a deteriorating earlier span. The bridge consists of seven cast-iron arches with detailing by Charles Barry. It is the oldest surviving river crossing in London.
