The scene was filmed at the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, a Roman Catholic church in High Gothic style built in the 13th century. Construction began in 1226 and was completed in 1493 when the vaults of the central nave were added. The church was built on the remains of an old city mosque, which in turn was built on the remains of an even older church.

The scene was filmed at El Escorial, the historical residence of the King of Spain, built between 1563 and 1584 for King Philip II. It was designed by Juan Bautista de Toledo in Renaissance style and is the largest building of that style in the world. The building also housed a monastery of Catholic Hieronymite monks, and more recently the Order of Saint Augustine. A few kilometers away is La Granjilla de La Fresneda, a hunting lodge and monastic retreat associated with the main complex.

The scene was filmed at this private royal park, encompassing the Fresneda Palace and surrounding grounds, built for King Philip II in the 16th century as a retreat near the El Escorial monastery.

The scene was filmed at the Hospital de Tavera, built for Cardinal Tavera outside the walls of the Old Town of Toledo. Construction began in 1541 under architect Alonso de Covarrubias and was completed in 1603 by Bartolomé Bustamante. It now houses a small art museum and historical archive.
