Growth is growth, but the question is — which one to choose? 🤔
Recently I caught myself thinking: which path am I actually on?
Schematically, there are three options: horizontal, vertical, and diagonal (this is like "having your cake and eating it too" 🥵).
Horizontal growth — you build expertise, become an ultra-specialist in your field
✅: calmer, clearer, without unnecessary complications.
❌: Salary may not keep up with your development.
Vertical growth — you develop soft skills, manage, drive processes
✅: new challenge, more money, leadership boost.
❌: dealing with people 😅 and a ton of responsibility.
Diagonal growth — "both wide and upward"
✅: broadest thinking, rapid personal brand growth, tasty salary.
❌: workload through the roof, lack of focus, you're responsible for everything at once.
I jumped straight into diagonal. New people, negotiations, movement — it's a blast. But there's a downside: productivity drops, my brain is torn between "tech" and "management".
Now I'm thinking of trying a scheme: split the days of the week into blocks for different roles. Let's see what happens 👀
Now a question for you:
👉 Which path are you growing on? And what's the toughest hidden pitfall?
