Despite being a road movie with a plot about a group of survivors traveling across the country, the film was almost entirely shot in Georgia, in the cities of Atlanta and Decatur, as well as on roads around Atlanta and its suburbs.

Filming Locations:

Bill Murray's Mansion

In the Movie

Scene where the group of survivors—Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock—decide to visit Bill Murray's house in Los Angeles because Tallahassee is a fan of his and his movies. During the visit, they encounter the mansion's owner and, mistaking him for a zombie, kill him.

The scene was filmed at a mansion called Dream Atlanta, which is located not in Los Angeles as shown in the film, but in a suburb of Atlanta. This giant house, over 3,000 square meters, features a pool, cinema, game rooms, wine cellar, ballroom, and many bedrooms. It often serves as a wealthy estate in TV and film projects shot in Atlanta. In 2016, it was put up for sale for $18.8 million.

Amusement Park

In the Movie

Scene where the group temporarily splits up, and Little Rock and Wichita head off to find an amusement park, where they are attacked by a horde of zombies. They get very lucky as Tallahassee and Columbus arrive to help and save them.

The scene was filmed at the "Wild Adventures" park, located south of Valdosta, practically on the border of Georgia. The ride the girls are stuck on is called "Fireworks," and it is still operating and accessible to visitors.
