The scene was shot at Catalina Island Yacht Club - one of the oldest and most unique yacht clubs in Southern California. In 1893, the Banning brothers, the original owners of the island, created the first yacht club on the island - the Catalina Yacht Club, primarily for fellow island residents like themselves. Santa Catalina Island is a rocky island off the coast of Southern California in the Gulf of Santa Catalina. The island's name is often shortened to Catalina Island or simply Catalina. The island is 22 miles (35 km) long and 8 miles (13 km) across at its greatest width. The island is located approximately 29 miles (47 km) south-southwest of Long Beach, California.
