The scene was filmed at Bridal Veil Falls, a waterfall in DuPont State Forest on the Little River near Brevard, North Carolina. There are several waterfalls on the river. Hooker Falls, High Falls, Triple Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls all appeared in the film "The Last of the Mohicans." Hooker Falls was used for the scene where the Indians go behind the waterfall. However, there is no cave there. That was filmed in a studio.

Chimney Rock State Park - Skyline Trail

The scene was filmed at The park was privately owned until May 2007, when the state of North Carolina completed the purchase of the park. Visitors must pay an entrance fee at the park gate. The Skyline Trail in Chimney Rock State Park was closed in 2008 after a serious accident involving a two-year-old child. The trail, which is also named after the old Skyline Cliff Trail, was reopened in 2017.

The park was privately owned until May 2007, when the state of North Carolina completed the purchase of the park. Visitors must pay an entrance fee at the park gate. After entering, visitors can hike the moderately difficult 1.5-mile Hickory Nut Falls Trail to the base of the waterfall. In 2017, the improved Skyline Trail to the top of the waterfall was reopened.
